Troma presents another snarky, nuclear sludge-themed comedy, the southern-friend Redneck Zombies. We were disappointed to learn that it was filmed north of the Mason-Dixon Line, but it was one of the only horror films shot in Vice President Joe Biden's home state of Delaware. I wonder if director Pericles Lewnes ever saw Southern Shockers?
Bruce, you are correct about the Salisbury, MD, filming. When I was compiling the book listings, if I found a film that had a two (or in some cases, three) state lineage, I'd either file it under the primary state or, if one of the states was otherwise unrepresented in the listings, I'd go with that state. Thus, I put REDNECK ZOMBIES in the Delaware pile. Delaware had nothing; Maryland already had Don Dohler and BLOOD CIRCUS. It didn't seem fair.
i believe at least some of it was shot in Salisbury, MD?
ReplyDeleteI've always been curious about this film, but filmmakers, especially northern ones, rarely get the South right.
ReplyDeleteI had such high hopes for this movie when I watched it. I was, mostly, letdown.
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of true for most TROMA releases.
There are some genuinely INSANE scenes though that really creeped me out.
